A major milestone for the Oklahoma Aviation Academy!

OAA students celebrated the completion of the academy’s first aircraft during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday at Max Westheimer Airport.

60 students put in more than 2,500 hours of hands-on work to build the aircraft, which is now complete and ready for FAA certification.

The plane will eventually hang in the entryway of the new OAA facility, opening in early 2027, as a lasting reminder of what students can accomplish when they get to learn by doing.
Pretty cool to think these students will be able to look up at it years from now and say, “I helped build that.”

Science you can see, build and eat!

A lot of work behind the scenes is making a big difference across Norman Public Schools.

Twenty-five NPS buildings have earned U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR® Certification this year, up from 14 last year, nearly an 80% increase. Even better, every NPS building submitted for certification earned approval.

ENERGY STAR Certification recognizes buildings that rank among the top 25% nationwide for energy efficiency while meeting standards for indoor air quality and ventilation.

This achievement is the result of years of work by our operations team, campus staff and partners to reduce energy use, improve efficiency and be good stewards of taxpayer dollars.

Most importantly, saving on utility costs means more resources can stay where they belong: in our schools and classrooms supporting students.
We're proud of the work happening across NPS to make our schools more efficient and sustainable.
