Norman Public Schools is excited to welcome several new leaders who will help guide our students, staff and families in the coming school year. These individuals bring a wide range of experience and expertise to their roles and reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to strong leadership, student support and academic excellence.

The following team members are stepping into new leadership positions within the district:

Kristen Earley has been named principal of Roosevelt Elementary. She brings 11 years of experience as an educator, primarily as an elementary classroom teacher. Kristen spent three years teaching at Roosevelt Elementary and has served as assistant principal at Alcott Middle School for the past three years. In that role, she played a critical part in the transition process for sixth-grade students and worked to support their social, emotional and academic needs. Kristen earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Oklahoma.

Sally Salmons will serve as assistant principal at Jefferson Elementary. She brings 21 years of teaching experience in Norman Public Schools, including at Washington Elementary. Sally previously served as an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma, where she taught science education courses to aspiring teachers. She was also an instructor at Moore Norman Technology Center, where she worked with future early childhood educators on differentiated instruction. She is a graduate of the NPS Aspiring Principals Academy. Sally holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree from Mid-America Christian University.

Miranda Steward has been appointed assistant principal at Adams Elementary. She brings 11 years of teaching and leadership experience in public schools. Miranda has spent her career in Norman, working at both Eisenhower and Kennedy Elementary Schools, where she taught first, third and fifth grades. In 2022, she was named assistant principal at Kennedy Elementary, where she was part of a team focused on school climate, culture and academic success. Prior to that role, she completed the district’s Aspiring Principals Academy. Miranda holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.

New to Norman Public Schools
We are also pleased to welcome the following individual who is new to the district:

Chabeli Montoya will serve as Site Coordinator for the district’s new Spanish Language Academy. She brings extensive experience in bilingual education and will play a key role in launching this innovative program, which is designed to expand language access and cultural learning opportunities. Chabeli has eight years of experience in public education. From 2017 to 2020, she taught fourth grade at Kennedy Elementary, and since June 2020, she has served as a teacher, teacher leader and English Language Development Coordinator in Oklahoma City Public Schools. She holds bachelor’s degrees from both the University of Texas at Arlington and Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and earned her master’s degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma.
