Norman North Cheer was recognized Wednesday at the Oklahoma State Capitol after an undefeated season and back-to-back state championships in STUNT.
The team completed a perfect regular season and claimed a regional title with a double-overtime win against Bixby. Norman North faced Bixby again in the state championship and secured the title in another double-overtime finish, earning its second consecutive state championship.
In addition to its state success, Norman North recorded two top-10 finishes at NCA nationals in Texas.
State Rep. Jacob Rosecrants recognized the team at the Capitol, honoring the athletes for their accomplishments and representation of Norman Public Schools.
Norman North Cheer finishes the season as one of the top-performing programs in the state and nation.
New teachers, mentors, site liaisons and administrators came together to celebrate a successful school year and build connections across the district. The come-and-go event created a relaxed space for educators to get to know one another while enjoying a fun, beach-themed atmosphere.
Attendees enjoyed snacks and drinks from Chuy's Tex-Mex, The Winston and HTeaO, along with beach games and activities that kept the energy high throughout the afternoon.
Giveaways from Torchy's Tacos, Neighborhood Jam, Dara Marie's and Chuy’s added an extra layer of excitement for those in attendance.
It was a fun end-of-year celebration and a meaningful opportunity to recognize the work of our educators while strengthening connections across Norman Public Schools.

Brock spent time with students reading stories, answering questions and encouraging them to keep working hard both in the classroom and beyond. He also made the visit even more memorable by signing baseballs for students.
Thank you, Brendan, for taking the time to invest in our students and make today one they will not forget.

Each of us can point to a teacher who believed in us, challenged us, and helped shape who we are today. This week, we honor those who continue to do that for our students.
Thank you for your dedication, your passion, and the countless ways you go above and beyond. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and our community is stronger because of you.
Join us this week as we celebrate and say thank you to our amazing teachers.

Happy National School Principal Day to the dedicated principals of Norman Public Schools. Your leadership, vision, and commitment create strong learning environments where students and staff can succeed. From early mornings to late nights, you are problem-solvers, mentors, and champions for every child.
Thank you for the impact you make in our schools and in our community.

At Grace Living Center, one of our pre-K classrooms is located inside the nursing home. This creates daily opportunities for our youngest learners and the “Grands” to connect, learn and share experiences. From reading together to spending time side by side, these interactions build relationships that benefit everyone involved.
These photos capture just a few of the moments that highlight the power of intergenerational connection and the impact it has on both our students and senior community.

This past weekend, Jefferson Elementary opened its doors to welcome back alumni, former staff, families and friends for a really special Open House. The halls were full of stories, laughter and plenty of “remember when” moments as people reconnected and took a walk down memory lane.
It also lined up with the release of the Jefferson History Book, which made the day even more meaningful, getting to celebrate the school’s past while sharing it in a new way.
If you stopped by, you know how special it felt. And if you couldn’t make it, you were definitely missed.
Here’s to 130 years of Jefferson and all the people who’ve made it what it is

Last week, Autism Acceptance Spirit Week (AASW) was in full swing, and students and staff fully embraced every opportunity to learn, connect and grow together.
Throughout the week, students participated in themed spirit days while also gaining a deeper understanding of autism and neurodiversity. On Monday, NPS psychologist Brien Simms spoke with students about autism and how our brains are uniquely wired. Tuesday featured a powerful moment as one of our third-grade students shared their experience with ADHD.
Each day during Rendezvous, students learned ASL signs from our speech pathologist, Ms. Jennifer Morris, helping build awareness of how nonverbal individuals communicate. Our paraprofessionals also spent time in classrooms reading and leading Q&A discussions about autism and neurodiversity, creating meaningful conversations across campus.
Our 4th and 5th-grade Student Council members showed incredible leadership all week long; welcoming students at drop-off with messages of acceptance, leading our Change War efforts, and sharing about influential individuals with autism and other neurodivergent traits during morning meetings.
We also took time to celebrate our amazing paraprofessionals on Wednesday for Paraprofessional Appreciation Day with lunch and a small token of gratitude for all they do.
On Thursday, about 40 staff members participated in a powerful silent breakfast experience, using AAC devices, visual prompts and sign language to better understand the communication challenges some of our students face.
One of the biggest highlights of the week was our annual Change War, raising an incredible $2,373.95 to support improvements to Roosevelt’s sensory room!
We wrapped up the week on Friday with our “Let’s Root 4 Each Other” shirts, generously provided by community sponsors and designed by Roosevelt’s own Mr. Greg Dove, along with special performances from Sooner Theatre, featuring several Roosevelt alumni.
This week was a meaningful reminder of the importance of kindness, inclusion and celebrating the unique strengths of every student. 💙

Congratulations to Denise Massey of Truman Primary School and Allison Wheeler of Longfellow Middle School. Both go above and beyond each day to support students’ academic success, career readiness and social-emotional well-being.
Their dedication, leadership and passion make a lasting impact on their school communities and reflect the very best of NPS. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

Families gathered at Lions Park for donuts, juice, and coffee before heading to school together as a group, making for a fun and active start to the day.
A big thank you to the Norman Police Department Bike Patrol for helping keep everyone safe along the way!

Around 800 people joined us for our very first event, and together we gave away more than 2,500 books to kids and families across our community. The Norman Public Library distributed all 150 of its early literacy kits, and the Cleveland County Health Department even ran out of books and had to restock because of the incredible turnout.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made our inaugural Storypalooza so special!

Our Multiple Abilities classroom at Cleveland Elementary brought a story to life in a truly meaningful way!
Students performed a short program inspired by Bear Wants More by Karma Wilson, using voice output buttons to share their lines with support from their dedicated team of therapists, teachers, and paraprofessionals.
Many of the students are nonverbal and use assistive technology to communicate, making this performance a powerful example of inclusion, innovation, and student voice in action.
This special program was the result of incredible collaboration between professionals across multiple disciplines, including SLPs, PTs, OTs, and VI teachers, along with the classroom team. A big thank you to our supportive families for helping with set design, and to Cleveland’s 3rd grade students for lending their voices to bring the story to life!
