A Norman North High School visual art educator has been recognized among the state’s top arts education leaders as part of the 2026 Oklahoma Education Awards for Arts Excellence.

Katy Hall, visual art educator at Norman North High School, is one of a select group of teachers and administrators statewide to receive this prestigious honor. The awards, presented annually by the Oklahoma Alliance for Arts Education in partnership with the Oklahoma State Department of Education, Oklahoma Arts Council and Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma, celebrate excellence in arts education and recognize individuals who make a lasting impact on students and school communities.

Hall was selected for her outstanding commitment to visual arts education and her dedication to fostering creativity, critical thinking and artistic growth among her students. Through her instruction, students are encouraged to explore their unique perspectives, develop technical skills and engage meaningfully with the arts.

“Katy Hall’s recognition is a reflection of the passion and expertise she brings to her classroom every day,” Director of Fine Arts at Norman Public Schools Dr. Evelyn Kwanza said. “She creates an environment where students feel empowered to take creative risks and express themselves, and her impact extends far beyond the classroom.”

The Oklahoma Education Awards for Arts Excellence highlight the important role educators play in cultivating vibrant arts programs and supporting student success across the state. Honorees are selected based on their leadership, innovation and commitment to advancing arts education. Norman Public Schools celebrates Hall’s achievement and her continued dedication to inspiring the next generation of artists.

The 36th annual awards ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on April 21 at the Guthrie Scottish Rite Center.
