Norman Public Schools is proud to recognize student artist Lillian Dai for earning multiple honors in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, one of the nation’s most prestigious programs celebrating creative achievement among young artists and writers.

Dai received four regional awards presented by Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, in partnership with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, recognizing outstanding merit in originality, technical skill, and artistic voice. Her honored works include:

  • Gold Key: The Great Standoff (Drawing)

  • Silver Key: Transformation (Drawing)

  • Silver Key: Secrets Safe with Me (Drawing)

  • Honorable Mention: The Past Meets The Future (Drawing)

Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized some of the nation’s most celebrated artists and writers while they were still teenagers. Past honorees include Andy Warhol, Stephen King, Amanda Gorman, Joyce Carol Oates, and many others.

“This level of recognition speaks volumes about Lillian’s artistic voice, discipline, and willingness to take creative risks,” Director of Fine Arts Dr. Evelyn Kwanza said. “Our fine arts programs are designed to nurture original thinking and personal expression, and Lillian’s success is a powerful example of what students can achieve when their creativity is supported and celebrated.”

Gold Key works advance to the national level of judging in New York City, where they undergo additional rounds of review. National Medalists will be announced on March 25, 2026.

Norman Public Schools congratulates Lillian Dai on this exceptional achievement and applauds her creativity, dedication, and artistic excellence. Her success reflects both her individual talent and the district’s commitment to supporting the arts and student expression.
