Monday 9.12.22

As we shared with you last night, Sunday evening NPS administrators were made aware of a threatening post made on Snapchat. The post contained a photo of an individual with a firearm and the caption “don’t come to school tmrw.”

NPD, working alongside partner agencies, investigated the issue, identified the individual in the post, and that person has been taken into custody. The individual was not an NPS student and the threat was not directed at Norman Public Schools.

Out of an abundance of caution, enhanced security measures will remain in place Monday and NPD will increase its presence at our schools.

We treat any threats made toward our schools or our students and staff with the utmost concern. We greatly appreciate the students and parents who reported this information, as well as everyone who has helped us gather information.

We are also grateful to NPD for its swift action on this matter and for providing additional security for our schools.

School safety is everyone’s responsibility, and this situation is a great example of people working together to keep our schools safe. Remember, if you see something, say something. You can always make anonymous reports by calling Norman Crime Stoppers at 405-366-STOP or submit an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com/1323

Sincerely,
Dr. Nick Migliorino
