Norman Board of Education approves new principal for Kennedy Elementary
The Norman Board of Education approved Thursday the district’s recommendation to hire Amber Bui as the new head principal at Kennedy Elementary School.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Amber at Kennedy,” said NPS Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino. “Amber is a 22-year veteran Norman educator who has been an exemplary leader throughout her career. She is talented and passionate and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things she accomplishes with the Kennedy team.”
Bui graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1999 and immediately started her career with Norman Public Schools as a fifth grade teacher at Washington Elementary. She later got a degree in counseling and served as a school counselor at Eisenhower and Washington Elementaries for more than 10 years.
Already a teacher-leader at her schools, Bui stepped into an administrative role in 2017, becoming the Director of Transportation Services where she served for three years. After a successful and productive stint at Transportation, Bui was eager to return to working more closely with students and families. She has served as an assistant principal at Cleveland Elementary for the last year and half.
