Norman Public Schools names Director of Student Services
The Norman Board of Education has approved the Norman Public School District’s recommendation to hire Holly McKinney as the Director of Student Services.
In this role, McKinney will coordinate, implement and supervise academic and extracurricular programs in schools across the district, with a focus on the district’s 17 elementary schools. She will report to Holly Nevels, assistant superintendent of Student Services.
McKinney began her career 20 years ago at Longfellow Middle School in Norman, where she served as the band director. She comes back to Norman from Mustang Public Schools, where she served as an elementary assistant principal and head principal for the past 11 years. Prior to her time as an administrator, she spent eight years a music and art teacher.
“Holly has a depth of experience with students in elementary and intermediate schools that will transition well as she works with students and families across the district,” said Dr. Nick Migliorino, superintendent of Norman Public Schools. “We are excited to have her back in Norman.”
McKinney is the past president of the Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals and a founding director of the Foundation for Better Schools. She is a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals and serves as a senior fellow and consultant for Oklahoma A+ Schools. McKinney is also an active member of the Cooperative Council of School Administrators.
