Teacher Walkout Update - April 3

Parents,

We continue to closely monitor the situation at the Oklahoma State Capitol and actively seek resolutions that benefit our teachers, students, families and community. My intention is to resume school as soon as possible, and I have remained in close contact with our educators as they advocate for increased state funding to benefit our students.

In order to resume school, I must have full confidence that we will have enough teachers and staff to provide safe, secure and productive learning environments. We are in the process of collecting information to determine our next steps regarding the remainder of this week. We will share information with parents, families and community members as soon as it becomes available.

We will also continue to provide breakfast and lunch to students at no cost at multiple sites across the district. For more information about food service, as well as additional details about how the walkout could impact the academic calendar, visit www.normanpublicschools.org/teacherwalkout.

I wish we could provide additional information, as I understand the hardship this causes our students, families and community. I appreciate your continued patience and support as we do our best to navigate this difficult situation.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nick Migliorino

Superintendent
