Fifth graders to showcase talent at All-City Choral Concert
Norman Public Schools will present its Annual Dr. Robert L. Kidd III All City 5th Grade Concert Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Lloyd Noble Center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm.
The concert will showcase all 5th graders in the Norman Public Schools and will feature a wide variety of children’s choral music. The guest clinician will be internationally known conductor Dr. Rollo Dilworth, who has taught and directed numerous award-winning choirs. He has most recently appeared as guest conductor for international choral festivals and master classes in Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Ireland, and China. For the 2015-2016 season, Dilworth has been invited to conduct all-state choirs in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ohio, Arizona and Massachusetts.
Jason Clemons, the Norman North Orchestra, and several guest musicians from the Oklahoma City Metro Area will accompany the choir. The concert will included several pieces arranged by our own nationally recognized composer, Dr. Jerry Neil Smith.
The concert is named after the late Dr. Robert L. “Bob” Kidd III, and will include a piece commissioned in his honor composed by Dr. Dilworth. Other works to be performed are “Norman Anthem,” “Oklahoma” and a moving arrangement of “America the Beautiful.”
Tickets are $3 for adults and no charge for children and students (K-12). Faculty and VIP passes are honored. Tickets go on sale at 6:30 p.m. and will be available at both the North and East entrances. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as Lloyd Noble Security will screen purses and bags of audience members before entering the arena. No food or drink is allowed.
