2024 NPS District Teacher of the Year
Norman Public Schools announced on April 12, 2024, Kristyn Erickson as the district’s 2024 Teacher of the Year. Erickson is a first-grade teacher at Truman Primary. She has spent her entire teaching career at Norman Public Schools, starting in 2006 as a teacher’s assistant while still in college.
"Kristyn Erickson epitomizes the essence of teaching excellence. Her unwavering dedication to her students, coupled with her innovative approach to education, sets her apart as a truly exceptional educator,” said Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino. “Kristyn goes above and beyond to create meaningful learning experiences, leveraging both classroom resources and community connections to enrich her students' educational journey. She embodies the perfect blend of passion, professionalism, and talent, making her an invaluable asset to our school district."
Erickson was selected through a competitive process, coordinated by the district’s Staff Development Committee. After being selected as the Teacher of the Year for Truman Primary, she submitted a comprehensive portfolio, participated in various interviews and a video that showcased her teaching skills and philosophy. She was one of four finalists up for the award and was crowned during the district's annual Celebration of Excellence event.
