Sex Education & HIV/AIDS Prevention
Welcome to our comprehensive Sex Education and HIV/AIDS Prevention Program website, where education empowers families to make informed and healthy choices. Our goal is to provide accurate, inclusive, and accessible information that fosters understanding and awareness about sexual health, HIV/AIDS prevention, and the importance of consent and respect in relationships.
Sexual Health education is being taught by science teachers, counselors, and/or student advocates to 6th, 7th , and 8th grade students unless a parent opts their student out.
HIV/AIDS Prevention is taught to 6th grade, 8th grade, and high school biology students unless a parent opts their student out.
Parent Preview Nights
Parents have the right to be informed about the programs taught to their children. We host parent preview nights at our Administrative Services Center located at 131 S. Flood Ave. During the parent preview nights, certified teachers and our district Science Coordinator provide an overview of the curriculum, and parents are given the opportunity to ask questions. We would love to have you join and ask questions about our sex education and HIV/AIDS Prevention program implementation! Dates and times of our parent preview nights are listed below.
Fall Preview: September 3, 2024 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Spring Preview: January 14, 2025 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

If you are unable to attend a parent preview night, curriculum overviews are available below for your review. Parents and guardians may also request to review the full curriculum with our NPS Science Coordinator, Jaime Bagg, by emailing jbagg2@normanps.org.
