Baby Steps
Baby Steps Class
High School Students who are pregnant or parenting may enroll in the Baby Steps Class during their regular class schedule. Students spend class time receiving support from teachers and other teen parents who are experiencing similar struggles and celebrations. Students also learn about prenatal care, child development, life skills, parenting, and relationships.
Do you need care for your child while you attend school?
Baby Steps Early Head Start is a high-quality child development and education program serving children ages birth to 3 years old, along with comprehensive services including health and development screenings, nutrition, educational goal setting, and family engagement opportunities. Diapers and formula are supplied for the children while they are cared for at Baby Steps. For more information regarding Early Head Start click here.
Parent Support
Students may enroll in individual parent education services. The time allows for personalized discussions regarding pregnancy, relationships, and parenting ideas/resources. Age-appropriate activities are modeled to encourage development and bonding between child and parent.
Would you like to participate?
High School Enrollment - High School students who wish to participate in the Baby Steps Class or parent education services should apply through their high school counselor.
Early Head Start Enrollment - To enroll a child (infant through 3 years old) in the Baby Steps program, the student must also visit the Baby Steps House to complete an Early Head Start application. Students will need to bring their child’s current immunization record, certified birth certificate, medical card, and proof of income (if applicable).
