The Clever Fox and the Forgetful Goat
Characters:
Freddy the Fox
Gary the Goat
(Freddy the Fox is sitting by the river. Gary the Goat enters.)
Gary: Hey Freddy, what are you thinking about?
Freddy: Oh, hi Gary! I was just thinking about how to get some delicious grapes from the vine on the other side of the river.
Gary: Grapes? I love grapes! But how will we get there? The river is too deep to swim across.
Freddy: Don't worry, Gary. I have a plan. Follow me!
(Freddy leads Gary to a well.)
Freddy: Look down this well, Gary. It's deep, and there's water at the bottom.
Gary: Yes, I see it. What's your point?
Freddy: I have an idea. We can climb down into the well, and once we reach the bottom, we'll be able to walk through the tunnel to the other side of the river where the grapes are.
Gary: That sounds risky, Freddy. What if we get stuck?
Freddy: Trust me, Gary. I'm a clever fox. Follow my lead.
(They both climb down into the well.)
(Once inside the well, Freddy and Gary realize they can't climb back up.)
Gary: Freddy, we're stuck! How will we get out?
Freddy: Oh no! I didn't think about that. But don't worry, Gary. I have another plan.
(Freddy points to a pile of hay at the bottom of the well.)
Freddy: Gary, if we stack up this hay, we can use it to climb out.
Gary: Okay, let's try it.
(They work together to create a hay stack and manage to climb out of the well.)
(Freddy and Gary are now out of the well and sitting by the river.)
Gary: That was a close one, Freddy. Your plans can be risky.
Freddy: You're right, Gary. Sometimes, it's better to think before acting. Let's remember to use our heads next time.
Gary: Agreed. And I guess those grapes weren't worth all the trouble.
Freddy: True, Gary. Let's stick to the simple and safe ways next time.
