Transfer Requests

There are two types of transfer requests: 

  1. Intra-district transfers are for students who live in the attendance boundaries of Norman Public Schools (NPS) but are requesting to attend an NPS school that is not their home/neighborhood school.

  1. Open transfers are for students who live outside of the attendance boundaries of Norman Public Schools (NPS) but request to attend an NPS school.

All transfer applications must be submitted online through the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Click here for the OSDE Online Form 

  • The student's State Testing Number (STN) is required to submit the form. For a Norman student, their STN is available in the Parent Portal or from their school site. For an out-of-district student, their STN is available from their current (or last) Oklahoma school.

  • Transfer applications for the current school year may be submitted at any time.

  • Intra-district transfer applications for the next school year may be submitted beginning January 1.

  • Open transfer applications for the next school year may be submitted beginning June 1

Transfer forms can be completed using any device. Parents who need access to technology to complete a transfer request form may visit Student Services at the Administrative Services Center located at 131 S. Flood Ave. or any school site during regular school hours. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment.

A student currently on transfer does not need to request a transfer for the next school year. Current transfers will be extended for next school year at the student's current site, or next school in the feeder pattern (5th to 6th or 8th to 9th), subject to continued adherence to attendance and behavior guidelines.

A family only needs to notify Student Services if they want to cancel or change their student's transfer for the next school year. 2026-2027 Transfer Change Request.
