About Monroe Elementary

Monroe Elementary opened in 1963 and was named after James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States. We are located in central Norman and currently serve approximately 435 students in grades Pre-K through 5. We are a feeder school for Alcott Middle School and Norman High School. We have one administrator, one counselor, 44 staff members, including 32 certified faculty and 12 support staff.

In 2013, Monroe celebrated 50 years of learning in a dynamic community where academic excellence is reached in a caring, collaborative, and rigorous school environment. The Monroe learning community is a great place to learn, make friends, and have fun. It is our goal to promote academic and social achievement of every student.

We are the home of the Mustangs and strive daily to demonstrate that Monroe CARES--Cooperation, Awesome Attitude, Respect, Excellence, Self-Control!!
