Norman Public School Foundation Donates $500,000 to Equip STEM Labs in 17 Elementary Schools
Norman, OK — NOVEMBER 14, 2024 — The Norman Public School Foundation (NPSF) announced today a $500,000 donation to equip cutting-edge STEM labs in all 17 elementary schools across the school district. This transformative gift is the largest single investment in the Foundation’s history, bringing the organization’s total investment in schools to more than $4.8 million since inception.
Known as “Foundation Labs,” these facilities will be fully equipped to promote hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Designed to foster creativity, innovation, and critical thinking, the labs will provide young students with access to resources to inspire and enhance their educational experience.
“With this partnership between the school district and the Foundation, we’re not just building labs, we’re building futures,” said Alesha Leemaster, executive director of the Norman Public School Foundation. “The Foundation Labs will ignite curiosity in our students, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow. And none of this would be possible without the generosity of the Norman community, and the servant leaders on our board of directors who give so much of their time and energy to enhance education for students.”
Construction of the labs was made possible through a recent school bond issue, while NPSF’s donation will cover the purchase of robust curriculum, high-quality equipment and cross-curricular tools to outfit the spaces. The bond issue reflects the community’s support of the district’s ongoing commitment to providing state-of-the-art learning environments, while the Foundation’s investment ensures that these spaces are maximized for student success.
