Hello, All-Stars! My name is Heather Murphy and I am the school counselor at Adams Elementary in Norman, Oklahoma. My journey toward school counseling first began when I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Ouachita Baptist University in 2003. After earning my Master's degree in Community Counseling at the University of Oklahoma in 2006, I worked to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have had experience working in various community and counseling agencies providing individual, family, and group counseling. Just prior to my time at Adams, I worked in public schools through a community agency providing early intervention and student support services. Over the course of almost 10 years, I was privileged to work very closely with school counselors through these programs to help support students in their academic and personal lives. It became increasingly apparent that school counseling was in my future. I was blessed with the opportunity to serve students through school counseling beginning in the fall of 2019-2020 school year at Adams. What a honor it has been to work with your students. My mission is to provide a safe place where all students feel heard and included, while supporting their social, emotional, and academic needs. I love to see our All-Stars SHINE!
