Literacy

  • Norman Public Schools is committed to improving language arts skills for all students. Reading, writing, language study, and speaking and listening skills are all necessary to meet the rigorous demands of college and future workforce. We recognize that students must be able to read and comprehend increasingly complex informational and literary text; they must read widely and deeply from among a broad range of high-quality, challenging text; and they must develop the skills to read fiction and nonfiction texts independently and proficiently, as well as craft written arguments, explain processes, and express themselves through personal writing.
