• Adams Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

A few things that I would like to make sure you are aware of for arrival and dismissal for our car riders.  We have limited space around our building and very narrow streets. This can make the traffic very tight.  In order to make sure we have safe areas for our students, we ask that if you are going to walk your student in to the building, please park across the street from the school.  You may also park in the neighborhood, but be cognizant of the neighborhood patrons and their driveways. Please do not park in the fire lane to walk your child into the building.

Teachers are to be on duty in the mornings at 7:25 AM.  The students all enter through the same door and go to either the gym, the cafeteria, or the library. The direction of traffic moves from east to west on Denison Drive.  When you are dropping off your students you may pull in the fire lane and let the students out. Stay in the car, there are teachers to help them get where they need to be in the building. It does make it easier if we pull all the way forward in the fire lane. This will cause some students to have to walk back to the doors, but again it helps immensely with the safety and the flow of traffic.  The doors to the atrium will lock and close at 7:50 AM. This is the official start time of school.  Once the doors close, the students will have to go to the office to get a tardy slip and head to class.

At the end of the day, the car line usually begins to form before school is out. Please stay in your car in the line when you get there.  The same flow pattern exists, moving from east to west on Denison Drive.  You need to have a yellow card with your student's name on the dashboard to have your child come to the car. If you need a yellow card, please pick one up in the office. If you are picking children up, please stay in your car.  We will call your child using a walkie talkie and get your child out to you.  We need to leave the pathway clear for students coming out to their cars.  If you walk up to the building, we will be waiting until the car line is gone to call your student out.

Thank you for helping our arrival and dismissal run smoothly and safely at Adams.

    Mrs. Patty Thomason, Principal
