Sex Education and HIV/AIDS Prevention
-
Each year, middle and high school teachers, as well as student advocacy coordinators, cover Sex Education and HIV/AIDS Prevention curriculum in 6th through 12th grades. District leaders recognize parents and guardians as the primary educators of their children and encourage parents to have discussions with their children about these topics. Parents who do not want their children included in the education lessons must notify the school principal in writing (click here to download the opt-out form). Students who do not participate will be given an alternative assignment. For additional information, please contact NPS Science Coordinator Jeffrey Patterson at 405-573-3511 or jefferyp@normanps.org.
An overview of the age-appropriate content that will be presented to students can be accessed below. Parents also have an opportunity to preview the materials at an event held before the information is presented to students.
