Speech and Drama

  • Speech and drama courses are offered at each middle school for grades six, seven and eight and afford students opportunities to develop communication skills and to be a part of at least one production in the fall and spring semesters. At the high school level students may enroll in Introduction to Acting and Advanced Acting classes, Competitive Acting and Speech, Competitive Debate, Speech Communication, Stagecraft and Musical Production class. Reader's Theatre, One-Act plays, and student driven productions are all a part of the program. There are also regional and national events available to student qualifiers.

Both Norman High and Norman North High Schools host OSSAA qualifying tournaments each school year.

Norman High's Monty Python Speech/Debate Contest happens in the spring semester. Please check your school calendar for date and time. All competition will take place at Norman High School. The awards ceremony will be held in the Norman High School Theatre.

Norman North's Mnemosyne Speech/Debate tournament happens in the spring semester. Please check your school calendar for date and time. All competition will take place at Norman North High School. The awards ceremony will be held in the Nancy O'Brian Center for the Performing Arts.
